Friday 8th July Capella

  After packing up, we drove into the centre of Emerald and went for a walk around town. We had hoped to stay another night in Emerald but we were unable to get a powered site for the night. We knew this several days ago and so decided to move on to Capella (50 km up the road). As it is, we are unable to get a powered site anywhere in Charters Towers for tomorrow so have taken an unpowered site for tomorrow and a powered site for the following night. From the main part of Emerald we drove out to a very large shopping centre and stopped here for a coffee and look around before heading off to Capella. We arrived in Capella before lunch and quickly set up and I did some washing while Rob visited the local bakery. After I finished the washing and Rob had cleaned bugs off the car and caravan, I gave Rob a haircut. Later in the afternoon, we drove into the town and checked out the impressive metal war memorial. From here we headed to the cemetery and I had a quick look around. The cemetery was close to the Capella golf course so we went there afterwards. Rob played 9 holes of golf and I tried to caddy. It was fun. We arrived back at the van ready for a drink!
