Saturday 20th August Yeppoon

Once again we were greeted by perfect weather so early in the morning we headed to the Yeppoon showgrounds to Farmers Market. We wished we had waited to do our fruit and veg shopping here rather than using the supermarket yesterday but we still made a few purchases.  Following this we had a few other shops to visit before heading to Keppel Bay Marina. This marina is one of the largest marinas in northern Queensland and is known as the gateway to the Capricorn Coast. The marina was full of beautiful boats and yachts and we watched the passenger ferries going out to some of the nearby islands. We found a lovely café right on the marina. After coffee and a walk around the area we hopped back in the car and travelled to Emu Park which is another beautiful coastal town just south of Yeppoon. Here there is a sculpture located on a cliff called “The Singing Ship”. It commemorates the area’s legacy of Captain Cook and his explorations. A gentle sea breeze is meant to produce a musical sound through the fluted pipes but when we were there, there was not enough breeze. I was also very impressed by the magnificent reflective memorial boardwalk walk and orientation gallery dedicated to all the soldiers who have fought for Australia in various wars. It was brilliantly done. From here we headed back to Yeppoon as Rob was due to play golf at the Yeppoon Golf course in the afternoon after the morning competition was completed. I decided to go out with Rob and continue to increase my knowledge of golf! The course was beautiful and with the fantastic weather, we had a great (if not long) afternoon out on the course. Rob had hired a buggy which was good as we had a lot of waiting to do and it was much more comfortable in the buggy. I think Rob played really well but what would I know? She knows a lot!!Haha
