We were up bright and early today because we knew we would be travelling further than we have in the past few weeks. Leaving Ravenswood, we once again started heading to the coast, travelling 450 km to arrive at Cape Hillsborough, a stunning park on the beach overlooking the Whitsundays. The drive took a little longer than we expected because there were so many roadworks along the Bruce Highway. Arriving around 2pm, we were amazed at the magnificent scenery that greeted us as we drove in. We had tried to book into the Haliday Bay Golf Course Resort and RV park so Rob could play golf on the very picturesque course but it was impossible to get into. Instead we found this park and we were very happy. We spent the afternoon driving to the nearby Haliday Bay (checking out the bay and the golf course), Bell Bay and Seaforth. All these tiny towns appear to have a few permanent people living in them, some in spectacular homes, and obviously a large influx of people at various holiday times. From our site we can see through the trees to the beach and we can hear the waves breaking on the shore. We are here for three nights and are looking forward to golf and going on the various walks, close to the park. A funny thing happened in the late afternoon. Rob and I were sitting outside having a drink. We had a container of dry biscuits sitting on our small outdoor table. Well imagine our surprise when a kookaburra swooped down from a tree and took about 4 rice-crackers out of the container! Very cheeky. We will keep the lid on next time.
