It rained steadily but lightly for most of the night but by the time we were ready to head out it had stopped raining and was fine. The cloud cover overnight meant that it wasn’t cold at all. Today we decided to head out and explore the Barron Falls. A short drive took us to a very scenic walk that lead us through rainforest to various lookouts of the magnificent falls. As usual we were more than impressed by the amount of water tumbling over the falls. After our walk we returned to Karumba and finished off some of the stalls and shops at the markets that we had missed yesterday. We returned to the caravan for a quick lunch and then headed out once more to visit Davies Creek Falls. The drive headed back to Mareeba, where we are going tomorrow but there was no way we could have taken the van into the falls due to the road conditions. The falls did not disappoint and the walks led to great lookouts where you were pretty close to the falls. Another walk took us along a track upstream from the falls and we found a lovely spot for swimming, if it had been warm enough. Returning to the van I went on a short rainforest walk from the caravan park that led to the Cairns, Karumba railway track.
